2008 has been a Whirlwind year for this Ilderim bred stallion! This year he showed on the international circuit and his strong masculine look rocked the show world. He was named Champion 9 year old Stallion at the AHA All Nations Cup and Reserve Champion Senior Stallion at the same show. Then he turned around and flashed his athletic ablilty by placing first at the HSF September Driving show Carriage Driving Turnout - Pairs (w/Siraj-al Leil). Then two Reserve Championships in his age group; one at the HF Committee Festival and another at the AHA European Championships.
November was THE big break out test for this stallion however. He placed 5th over all at his first One Day Event! We are so thrilled to see Stevie just reaffirm to us that not only is he a structurlly sound and pleasing to the eye Polish stallion, he's also an athlete. Not only are you getting a pretty typey Arabian stallion, you're also getting centuries of performance breeding. This Arabian is a warhorse cast from the old mold and appreciated by judges far and wide for what he is not only who he is.
We couldn't be more proud of Stevie! Watch for him in 2009 and his offspring as they take on the HF world!
Stevie was bred by Countess Penelope Lewenhaupt of Claestorp in Sweden. He is the culmination of careful study of the Polish Arabian horse. Upon arriving in the US we recognized his athletic ability and trained him as a park horse. He has done rather well in this discipline showing off a well extended fancy trot. While not "flashy" he powers down the rail; a very giving horse always willing to take on the next challenge with spunk and attitude. In limited showing, "Stevie" has proven himself a fierce competitor earning championships for his type and conformation, and showing off how that beautiful body can also be a performance machine.
Taking a page out of the great horseman Jan Calis' book, we are putting Stevie into Eventing training. Jan owns the stallion Lobeke who in 2001, became the first and so far only Arabian to be named Dutch National Champion Eventer against Warmbloods. This was our inspiration for this unusual move.
Stevie is a very "hot" horse however he has taken to the training rahter well. He's doing well so far in dressage; light and collected he has a nice outline and shows balance. However he's still very hot and very strong over the jumps. Stevie showed some initial hesitation when it came to the road and track, but he enjoys the opportunity to run and jump once you get him warmed up.
Because I believe that a strong athletic agile horse with the physical and mental strength to withstand stresses placed on them in the show ring should breed on to offspring who will be able to withstand the demands of the race track.
The Polish Arabian has been bred for centuries to be typey athletic, and have the ability to pass their best traits on to the next generation. Through careful and select breeding the Poles have created an animal that is so prepotent that they are desired for breeding programs all over the world. We here in HF are fortunate that we have been able to collect some of the best bloodlines to ever grace the breed.
R-Thunder God represents an opportunity to the savvy Arabian breeder to gain quality outcross blood for thier herd.
